Kammattam: Trailer of Sudev Nair's web series depicts a major crime linked to a bank scam

The makers of the upcoming Malayalam web series, Kammattam, have dropped its trailer today (August 22). It was shared by Tovino Thomas through his social media page, two weeks ahead of its debut on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium.

Sudev plays Circle Inspector Antonio George in the one-minute-fifty-two-second video, which looks into the unnatural death of planter Samuel Umman in what looks to be an accident. When a necklace disappears from the scene, he suspects that something is wrong right away. Shaji, an auto driver with a violent past, is discovered during this investigation, but subsequently found dead in a quarry. Antonio follows a labourer at Samuel's plantation when more doubts are raised by the presence of an unexplained two-wheeler at a building site. 

The trailer teases an exciting series for thriller lovers to watch in September, showing glimpses of how Antonio unveils a terrifying web of deceit and harsh realities. Inspired by an actual event in Thrissur, it also illustrates how the case is related to a bank fraud.

Kammattam OTT new release date

The suspenseful web series, which has been inspired by one of Kerala's most disputed incidents, will now be streamed on the streaming service and on OTTplay Premium starting at 12 am on September 5. Kammattam was originally scheduled for release on August 29. The August 29 premiere of Shodha, another web series on the same platform, could have caused Kammattam's debut to be delayed. The protagonist of the Kannada original series Shodha is portrayed by Lucia-fame Pawan Kumar. 

The cast of Kammattam includes Saikumar, Jeo Baby, Ajay Vaasudev, Sreerekha, Akhil Kavalayoor, and Jordy Poonjaa. Shan Thulasidharan, who helmed Dear Vaapi, is the director of Kammattam. Another Malayalam web series that will be accessible for viewing on OTTplay Premium and Sony LIV on August 29 is Sambhavavivaranam Nalara Sangham, also referred to as The Chronicles of the 4.5 Gang.
