A new Malayalam series titled, Kammattam, is all set for its digital debut. However, according to a latest update, the release of this series on ZEE5 via OTTplay Premium has been delayed due to unspecified reasons.
Inspired by one of the most controversial events in Thrissur, the gripping crime thriller will now be streamed on the popular website and on OTTplay Premium beginning at 12 am on September 5. The original release date of Kammattam was set for August 29. It is reasonable to suppose that Kammattam's debut has been postponed due to the August 29 release of Shodha, another web series on the same platform.
Pawan Kumar plays the main character in the Kannada original series, Shodha. Sambhavavivaranam Nalara Sangham, also known as The Chronicles of the 4.5 Gang, is another Malayalam web series that will be available for streaming on OTTplay Premium and Sony LIV starting on August 29. Starring in this project are Jagadish, Indrans, Vijayaraghavan, Hakkim Shahjahan, Darshana Rajendran, Sanju Sivaram, Santhy Balachandran, and Niranj Maniyan Pillai. It blends realistic sequences with a darkly humorous tone.
Something is amiss when Circle Inspector Antonio George finds a stolen jewellery at the scene of a possible accident that claimed the life of landowner Samuel Umman. His inquiry centres on Shaji, an auto driver with prior convictions, who is later found dead in a quarry. An intriguing two-wheeler at a construction site suggests a deeper connection, and all the clues eventually point to a plantation employee Samuel. Antonio explores a horrifying network of secrets and falsehoods that lie far beyond the surface of reality, revealing the central plot of the web series. Antonio is portrayed by Sudev in this web series.
With funding from 23 Feet Productions, Kammattam's cast consists of Jins, Jeo Baby, Ajay Vaasudev, Sreerekha, Akhil Kavalayoor, Arun Sol, and Jordy Poonjaa. Kammattam has been directed by Shan Thulasidharan, who has also helmed Dear Vaapi.
