The Suriya-starrer film Kanguva made its streaming debut on Prime Video on Sunday, December 8. The film, which had a runtime of 2 hours and 34 minutes in its theatrical version, was trimmed by 13 minutes in its streaming version. Keep reading to know which scenes were chopped off from the film.
The 2024 Tamil film Kanguva made its OTT debut within three weeks of its release on Prime Video. However, it looks like the streaming audience will not be able to see the full version, given how 13 minutes of Kanguva have been trimmed.
At the time of its theatrical release, Kanguva was subjected to major trolling and negative feedback. The film which is directed by Siva, had high expectations but failed to impress the audience. While the reason why the makers chose to trim the film is not known, the streaming version has cut down on the present portions which involve Suriya and Disha Patani.
For those who have not watched the film, Kanguva is an interwoven story of the past and present with Suriya appearing as a warrior prince and bounty hunter. When a young boy comes in search of the bounty hunter, it takes him back to the times when he once was a warrior prince of his island clan. The streaming version of Kanguva has cut down portions of Yogi Babu and Disha Patani who feature in the present. This includes the Yolo song, Disha Patani's scenes in combination with Suriya, and shots that involve cultural references like The Boys, and Moye Moye. However, audiences who are watching the film on OTT do not seem to mind, given how Kanguva still failed to capture the hearts of streaming viewers.
Kanguva is backed by Studio Green and has music by Devi Sri Prasad. The film hit theatres on November 19 and stars Disha Patani, Bobby Deol, Natty, Karunas, and others. Karthi makes a special appearance towards the end, teasing a sequel in the making.
