Kannagi OTT release date - Here’s where you can stream this women-centric social drama

The Tamil film Kannagi has made it into the digital space after over a month of theatrical release. The social thriller is now streaming on Amazon Prime. Keerthi Pandian, Ammu Abhirami, Vidhya Pradeep, and Shalin Zoya are playing the lead roles in this film.

Under the direction of Yashwanth Kishore, the project has already generated a lot of buzz on social media, thanks to its official trailer and intriguing posters. The way the trailer is handled does bring to mind a few popular women-centric films and compilations that were made in the past by different film industries.

Plot of Kannagi

The movie explores live-in and marital relationships, divorce, and abortion, which makes it a thought-provoking and socially relevant story. Four women from various societal backgrounds are the focus of Kannagi.

Keerthi Pandian plays a young woman, Gita, who, despite having passed the fourth month of her pregnancy, chooses to have an illegal abortion.

Ammu Abhirami’s character Kalai is a young lady made to get ready for the numerous suitors who come to see her by her family. Nevertheless, once her marriage is fixed, her entire world collapses.

Shalin Zoya plays a youngster who chooses to live with her partner in order to have the companionship and independence of cohabitation rather than settle for marriage. But ultimately, she faces criticism for the same from both her partner and society. In contrast, Vidhya Pradeep plays a young wife who is coerced into getting a divorce by her husband. She decides to go to court in an effort to fight back against this injustice.

Cast and Crew of Kannagi

Adhesh Sudhakar, Mayilswamy, Vetri, director Yashwanth Kishore, and Mounika are among the supporting cast. The soundtracks for Kannagi have been composed by Shaan Rahman. J Dhanush and M Ganesh have produced the film under the banners of E5 Entertainment and Skymoon Entertainment. The social thriller was released in theatres on December 12 last year. Ramji has helmed the camera work for this movie, while K Sarath Kumar is the editor.
