Kannappa: Akshay Kumar's striking look as Lord Shiva is now out from the Vishnu Manchu starrer

Kannappa is Vishnu Manchu's most prestigious film to date and features a host of superstars in cameo roles. Among them is Akshay Kumar, who plays Lord Shiva in the film. The makers revealed his look today, and Akshay Kumar also tweeted about his role, stating: "Stepping into the sacred aura of Mahadev for #Kannappa. Honored to bring this epic tale to life. May Lord Shiva guide us on this divine journey. Om Namah Shivaya."

Akshay Kumar looks dynamic and serene in the first-look poster as Lord Shiva. Reports suggest that the Bollywood star followed a strict diet and maintained a spiritual mindset while portraying Mahadev. Akshay shot for a week last year for Kannappa and was highly impressed with the visuals and the final output of his role.

Adding to the excitement, Rebel Star Prabhas will also appear in a cameo, with his look yet to be unveiled. From Malayalam cinema, Mohanlal will be seen in a cameo as well, and his look was revealed a few weeks ago. Vishnu Manchu has produced this film on a grand scale, sparing no expense to make it a visual spectacle. Roping in Akshay Kumar is the icing on the cake, and it’s said that Akshay readily accepted the role after hearing about its significance in the story.

The makers kickstarted the promotional campaign in Bangalore with a Kannada press interaction. Previously, icons like Shivrajkumar and Krishnam Raju portrayed Kannappa, but Vishnu promises that his rendition of the character will be completely unique. Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the film’s director shared that Akshay Kumar’s cameo comes at a crucial moment in the story and will give audiences goosebumps.

Sarath Kumar will also appear in a key role, and the film’s songs have been choreographed by Prabhu Deva. Kajal Aggarwal will play Parvati Devi, marking her third collaboration with Vishnu Manchu. Legendary actor Mohan Babu, Vishnu’s father, will also play a pivotal role in this film, which has been shot extensively in New Zealand.

Arpit Ranka and Preity Mukundhan are also part of the cast. Kannappa is slated to release on April 25, 2025. Vishnu Manchu has planned massive events in the days to come and for one of them, he will also invite Prabhas as the chief guest. Stay tuned for more updates on this ambitious project.
