Kannappa: The Vishnu Manchu film tells the story of a devoted Shiva follower who sacrifices his eyes for the deity

Kannappa, the 2025 Telugu mythological fantasy film starring actor Vishnu Manchu in the lead role, with actors from various industries making a cameo appearance. Despite its stat-studded ensemble, the film has not made box office waves, but minted Rs 32 crore in two days. As per Sacnilk report, the early estimates for Kannappa for day three is around Rs 2.74 crore at the time of writing.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh with story and screenplay written by Vishnu Manchu, Kannappa is about the Hindu mythological character, an ardent devotee of Shiva who goes on to sacrifice and donate his eyes in order to stop bleeding of the god's idol.

The film features cameo appearances by Mohanlal, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Kajal Aggarwal, with the ensemble cast including Mohan Babu, Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, Brahmanandam, Brahmaji, Siva Balaji, Kaushal Manda, Rahul Madhav, Devaraj, Mukesh Rishi, Raghu Babu, and Madhoo. After making an opening of Rs 9.35 crore on day one, the film went on to collect Rs 6.84 crore. As of late Sunday afternoon, the film has collected Rs 2.74 crore, making it a total of Rs 18.93 crore. Produced by Vishnu Manchu's father Mohan Babu, Kannappa is expected to have a decent run for the next few days.
Kannappa had been in the making ever since 2015. With Akshay Kumar and Kajal Aggarwal playing Lord Shiva and Parvati respectively, the film has music by Stephen Devassy and is shot by Sheldon Chau. Anthony has edited the film.
We have also previously reported that unlike big-budget films which already sells its OTT rights, Kannappa is yet to lock a streaming partner. He has previously said that the film will not be available on streaming platforms for at least ten weeks after its release. Kannappa opened to mixed reviews upon its release. It is currently running in big screens.
