Vishnu Manchu is one of the busiest personalities in Telugu cinema, and his magnum opus, Kannappa, is all set to hit the screens on April 25, 2025. The film boasts an ensemble cast featuring some of the biggest stars, including Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Akshay Kumar, in key roles. Apart from playing the lead, Vishnu has also produced the film on a grand scale and is actively promoting it across various platforms.
In the past few days, speculation has been rife about a possible change in the film’s release date due to delays in finalizing its OTT rights. These days, streaming platforms play a crucial role in determining theatrical release dates, and Kannappa is no exception. Addressing these rumors, Vishnu clarified the situation in a recent interview.
“There has been a delay in closing the OTT rights deal, but it is not because they are holding back the release date. The reason is that we are expecting a substantial price for the digital rights. Three major OTT platforms were already competing for the rights, and now, yet another popular platform has joined the race. The deal is almost finalized, and an official announcement will be made soon,” said Vishnu.
Kannappa is one of Vishnu's most ambitious projects to date and also features his father, Mohan Babu, in a significant role. The film is being released in multiple languages, including Hindi and all major South Indian languages, making it a true Pan-India project.
Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting the trailer. Vishnu revealed that editing the trailer has been quite challenging due to the presence of multiple stars. “The discussions around the trailer have been going on for the past two months. Several versions have been cut, and finalizing one that does justice to all the actors and their fan bases has been a huge task. However, the final version will be locked soon,” he shared.
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa also stars Sarath Kumar, Prabhu Deva, and Mukesh Rishi in pivotal roles. With high expectations surrounding the film, it remains to be seen which OTT platform will secure its digital rights.
