Kannappa is one of the most awaited films in Telugu cinema, featuring some of the biggest stars in the country in key roles. Vishnu Manchu not only plays the lead but also produces the film, which has been made on a massive budget. While the pre-release business has been locked, the OTT deal is yet to be finalized.
A source close to the unit reveals that Vishnu Manchu has struck a deal with a popular platform, structuring the agreement with two distinct clauses. The first clause states that the film will premiere on OTT eight weeks after its theatrical release, but only if it becomes a smash hit. A specific amount has been secured for this scenario.
The second clause covers the possibility of the film underperforming; in that case, Kannappa will stream on OTT within a month of its theatrical release. Kudos to Vishnu Manchu, who has ensured that a significant portion of his investment is recovered through post-theatrical rights.
In a recent interview, Vishnu revealed that he has secured a handsome amount for the OTT deal and is very pleased with the outcome.
With major stars like Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, and Mohanlal making cameo appearances, the film is expected to receive a positive response nationwide. Vishnu’s father, Mohan Babu, plays a pivotal role in the film, which also features Sarath Kumar, Siva Balaji, and Brahmanandam in important roles. Akshay Kumar appears as Lord Shiva, while Kajal Aggarwal plays his wife.
