Renowned Kannada actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty, who impressed audiences with Kantara Chapter 1 last year, has moved on to his acting commitments. But during a recent event of News 18, the filmmaker confirmed that his next directorial would be based on mythology. Though he did not elaborate, there were speculations earlier that he could be directing the much-delayed Malayalam project Randamoozham.
Rishab Shetty is currently focusing on his upcoming movie Jai Hanuman, which stars him in the lead role and is directed by filmmaker Prasanth Varma.
“I was living in the Kantara world for 4 years. So I have kept aside the direction for now and just working on my role as an actor. I have started a film called Jai Hanuman. The shoot is happening. Maybe next year, we are gonna release. As a director... I am yet to reveal (the project)... working on a mythology subject,” Rishab explained during the event.

There have been rumours about Rishab Shetty playing the lead role and directing Randamoozham, though there has been no official announcement yet.
Randamoozham is a Malayalam novel, penned by the legendary MT Vasudevan Nair. It was the long-cherished dream of the late author to adapt the epic novel, which narrated the tale of Bhim from Mahabharatha, onto the silver screen. The project has been on the backburner for years. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal was also in talks to play the lead role of Bhim but the project never materialized.

But a couple of months ago, there was a positive update when MT’s daughter Aswathy Nair confirmed that the film is indeed happening and an official announcement can be expected without further delay. She had confirmed to a Malayalam media channel that the film would go on floors this year. But even Aswathy did not comment on whether Rishab Shetty would be spearheading the project as the lead actor and director.
MT, a National Award-winning screenplay writer, had also reportedly penned the script for the project. Rishab's last film Kantara was also an epic mythological film, where he played the tribal warrior Berme. Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, and Gulshan Devaiah were also part of the film.
