Karan Johar reviews Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar: 'Made me question my ability as filmmaker'
Karan Johar recently shared that he was blown away by Aditya Dhar's espionage thriller, Dhurandhar. Ranveer Singh's film is the number 1 Indian film of 2025.

Dhurandhar was released on December 5, 2025, and the film created a storm at the box office. It has become the number 1 Indian film of 2025 and is still going strong both at the domestic and worldwide box office. Although Karan Johar already praised the film in his Instagram Story, he has once again showered love on Dhurandhar and shared that he was blown away by the film.

At the book launch of Dining With Stars by Anupama Chopra, Karan Johar heaped praise on Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar. He revealed that he was blown away by the film and it made him question his ability as a filmmaker.
KJo said, “I have to say this, I loved Dhurandhar. I was blown away by the craft, blown away by the use of music, I was swept by the performances, and I was absorbed by the world Dhurandhar has created."
He further added that the film makes him feel like his craft is limited. Mentioning that he respects everyone's opinions, Karan further added, "What I loved about Dhurandhar is I didn’t feel the director was self-aware. I felt like he wasn’t trying to show off his craft, and yet it was seamlessly telling you the story."
The filmmaker also said that he never felt like Aditya went wide, and the film was beautifully shot without self-awareness. "So, it made me question my ability as a filmmaker. So, that’s always a good thing for me, as a filmmaker. I look at that as a positive lens," he said. Karan also mentioned that he began the year loving Saiyaara and ended the year loving Dhurandhar, and in the meantime, he also loved Lokah. Johar.
