Karan Singh Grover 'genuinely fell in love' with Jennifer Winget during Dill Mill Gaye; director Siddharth P Malhotra recalls their romance on set

Karan Singh Grover fluttered everyone's hearts with his stint in the medical drama Dill Mill Gaye. His character Dr. Armaan was highly loved by the audience. His chemistry with Dr. Riddhima, played by Shilpa Anand (Ohanna Shivanand) kept fans glued to the screens. Later, when Jennifer Winget entered the show as Dr. Riddhima in 2009, it just got bigger and better. Karan and Jennifer fell in love with each other while working on the show. Eventually, in 2012, the duo tied the knot. In a recent interview, director Siddharth P Malhotra opened up about their love story.

'Karan Singh Grover genuinely fell in love with Jennifer Winget'

In a recent chat with Siddharth Kannan, director Siddharth P Malhotra recalled Karan and Jennifer's romance on set. He revealed that since they played a couple on screen, it added to their ongoing romance. He said, "Their romance started on set. They had to perform romantic sequence upon romantic sequence with each other, and it was a proper rom-com." 

The Maharaj director went on to describe Karan as a 'very charming man' who could 'charm anyone'. He added, "He was, then and now, a good looking man, a charming man and of course, he had women flocking towards him and he fell in love. He genuinely fell in love with her. Otherwise why would he gotten married? They got married." 

However, Karan and Jennifer parted ways eventually and ended their marriage. Later, in 2016, Karan got married to Bipasha Basu. Their love story started on the sets of Alone. The couple is currently embracing every bit of parenthood as they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Devi in 2022. 

Meanwhile, in the same interview, Siddharth revealed that he still gets messages from fans who want him to make Dill Mill Gaye 2 with Karan Singh Grover.

Malhotra also spoke about Karan's career after Dill Mill Gaye. He appeared in the show Qubool Hai and did a few films. However, his career in films never worked in his favor. When the director was asked if Grover 'lost his way', he said, "A lot was going on in his life. With success, a lot comes into your life. I don’t know if he ‘lost his way’ is the right term but of course, things didn’t go the way they should have gone. If he worked on his stardom then, it would have helped him. But these are learnings we all go through in life."
