Kareena Kapoor calls The Crew, co-starring Tabu & Kriti Sanon, a typical commercial masala film – Here’s everything we know

The world wasn’t ready when Rhea Kapoor announced her next venture as a producer last year, The Crew. What was more surprising is that it brought together three leading ladies of Bollywood, of whom two hold iconic status. Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon collaborate for the first time in a movie that seems like a celebration of womanhood. But there has been some confusion about what the film has in store. Kareena is now breaking the silence. 

Alongside the three leading ladies, The Crew also stars singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh. Kareena, who is riding high on the success of her Netflix digital debut, Jaane Jaan, and the critical acclaim that she has been receiving for Hansal Mehta’s The Buckingham Murders, recently spoke about The Crew and revealed its genre.

While talking to India Today, Kareena said, “It’s really a cool space of comedy, heist and a typical commercial masala film with three women in the lead.” When quizzed further, she added, “As an actor, I love to do things that are a little extra challenging, pushing me to step out of my comfort zone.”

In the chat, Kareena also spoke about her career and her choice of roles. “At this stage of my career, it's time to change the dynamics and do different things. Be it with my recent OTT debut Jaane Jaan or The Buckingham Murders, I have pushed myself a little extra with content," she said. The actress added that she does eye some projects but is very secure with where her career is right now. Directed by Rajesh Krishnan, The Crew is set for a March 22, 2024, release, as per last updates.
