Karthi to join hands with Bachelor fame Sathish Selvakumar next?

Though debutant Sathish Selvakumar's Bachelor, which released in theatres a month ago opened to mixed reviews, many appreciated the movie's making style, visuals and background score. The rom-com, which stars GV Prakash and Divyabharathi in lead roles, started streaming on SonyLIV recently.

Now, we hear that the young filmmaker is all set to team up with Karthi for his next project. An official announcement on the same is expected to happen soon. In his career spanning almost 15 years, Karthi has never worked with a filmmaker for the second time, except for his upcoming project, Viruman. 

Muthaiah, who had directed Karthi in Komban (streaming on MX Player and Jio Cinema) earlier, has helmed Viruman, too. The shooting of the movie, produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment, was wrapped up recently. Aditi Shankar, daughter of veteran filmmaker Shankar, makes her acting debut with film.

The movie, which is expected to be a summer release in theatres, will have its OTT premiere on Disney+ Hotstar. Karthi, who was last seen in Sulthan (streaming on Amazon Prime Video), will be seen in Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan as well. PS Mithran's cop thriller, Sardar, is another project which he has in his kitty. 

His film with Sathish, according to sources, will be bankrolled by SR Prabhu's Dream Warrior Pictures. The production company earlier bankrolled Karthi's Kaashmora (streaming on Zee5), Theeran Adhigaram Ondru (streaming on Amazon Prime Video), Kaithi (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar) and Sulthan.     

The much-awaited sequel of Lokesh Kanagaraj's Kaithi 2 might as well materialize if everything goes well. There are reports that the project is likely to go on floors after the release of the director's ongoing Kamal Haasan film Vikram.
