Following the success of Amaran (2024), filmmaker Rajkumar Periasamy appears to be gearing up for a high-stakes, pan-India venture. Although his upcoming film with Dhanush—currently titled D55—is still awaiting release, reports have it, Periasamy has already begun laying the groundwork for his next project, this time in Hindi, with Kartik Aaryan and Akshaye Khanna likely to headline.
As per a report in Mid Day, backed by T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar, the film would serve as Periasamy’s formal Bollywood debut. Envisioned as a multi-lingual, large-scale film, the project is expected to be made in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, and aims to rope in actors from across different film industries.
According to an insider familiar with the development, they informed the tabloid that the project is in its nascent stages but has already caught the attention of many due to its scale and potential casting. The source stated that it's a big film—emotionally intense, layered, and a dream for any young star to take on. Kartik is in early talks and Akshaye’s name came up for a morally ambiguous parallel lead—a part Periasamy has wanted him to play for quite a while now.
If everything lines up, the film—which is currently untitled—is expected to go on floors in 2026. For Kartik, who recently wrapped a rom-com Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri with Ananya Panday, the scheduling might be tight but is reportedly doable. The actor is presently involved in Anurag Basu’s musical, aiming for a summer 2026 release. The insider added that the actor will move on to Periasamy's film after that.
On the other hand, Akshaye is believed to be completing work on Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. While his casting in the Periasamy film isn’t locked yet, conversations are actively ongoing.
Interestingly, it’s also being said that Vicky Kaushal was one of the first actors approached for the lead. However, it's unclear why things didn’t progress with him.
As pan-India films continue to shape production dynamics—especially with the post-Pushpa, post-RRR wave—Periasamy’s Hindi-language debut seems to reflect a strategic and ambitious leap. All eyes are now on the team for an official announcement.
