Kartik Aaryan was given producer credit for Shehzada, a Hindi film adaptation of Allu Arjun's hit Telugu film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, since he gave up a part of his salary to ensure that the film materialised. When the film was released earlier this year, it bombed at the box office and failed to impress audiences.

Kartik has now given some insight into why he chose to waive his fees for Shehzada. The actor discussed his role in production of the film in a recent interview with Film Companion.

The Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety actor said, "What happened with Shezada was that I was not a 'producer-producer' as such. I was given that credit since the film was in a money crisis, and I gave up on my fees."

Kartik revealed that to guarantee the project's completion and keep it from becoming stalled, he also made a financial contribution to the team. “The producers were gracious enough to credit me for that reason,” the actor said, thanking the producers for recognising his efforts and expressing his happiness over it. In this case, Kartik claimed that he was effectively "just acting as a producer". Kartik is concentrating only on his acting profession and has no aspirations of producing a movie any time soon.

About Shehzada

Ronit Roy, Kartik Aaryan, Kriti Sanon, Paresh Rawal, and Manisha Koirala are all part of the ensemble cast of Rohit Dhawan's action comedy. The film, which was released in theatres on February 17, 2023, was declared a commercial failure.

Kartik Aaryan's upcoming projects

Kartik is now working on a biopic for Kabir Khan titled Chandu Champion, which is about Murlikant Petkar, the first gold medalist from India in the Paralympic Games. Petkar was awarded a Padma Shri in 2018. Kartik is also working on Anurag Basu's Aashiqui 3. However, the female lead is yet to be finalised. In addition to these films, Kartik is also set to star in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
