With the makers of Karuppu, the upcoming Tamil film starring Suriya, being questioned back and forth by fans to announce the release date, the team has finally officially announced that it will hit theatres on May 14. The film is written and directed by RJ Balaji.

It is some good news for Suriya fans who have been waiting with bated breath to know the release date of Karuppu. The film will now arrive in theatres on May 14, the team announced by releasing a red-tinted poster, confirming the release plans just after the Election Commission has unveiled the election dates for the state.

The film is written and directed by RJ, actor and director RJ Balaji, who will also star in the antagonist role as well. In the film, Suriya is billed to play a lawyer and will blend rural drama with intense action, rooted in themes of justice, identity, and power. Karuppu also stars actors Trisha who will be reuniting with Suriya after a long gap, Indrans, Swasika, Natty Subramaniam, Sshivada, Supreeth Reddy and Yogi Babu in supporting roles. While AR Rahman was first announced as composer, he was later replaced by Sai Abhayankkar.

While it was a lull phase for Suriya after the release of Kanguva and Retro, Karuppu has much expectations on it. With Karuppu hitting theatres in May, the actor is back with another film in July. Suriya’s Vishwanath And Sons, written and directed by Venky Atluri is also lined up for release. Vishwanath And Sons stars Mamitha Baiju as the female lead and revolves around a love story between a couple with a glaring age gap.
