Kaun Pravin Tambe? promo: Cricketer talks about his sporting journey as Shreyas Talpade plays his reel version

Disney+ Hotstar dropped a sneak peek into the upcoming biopic Kaun Pravin Tambe? today. The film is based on the cricketer who made his Indian Premier League debut at 41 with Rajasthan Royals.

The 41-second-video sees Tambe speak about the twists and turns in his journey, his determination to prove sceptics wrong and finally achieving his dream of being on the cricketing pitch. “When I found out at a film is being made on me, I cried,” confesses Tambe. 

“Ek baat toh hai, meri life story mei kayi twist hain. Bohot fight maari maine (My life story has witnessed a lot of twists. I had to fight for what I wanted)”, Tambe continues.

Juxtaposed against his testimonial are montages of Shreyas Talpade as Tambe’s reel self, set to an inspirational instrumental track. He can be seen training hard, wiping away tears, getting into an accident and still moving on towards his ultimate goal.

The video ends with Tambe introducing himself, urging viewers to watch his story and promising that it will be a fun ride.

Kaun Pravin Tambe? is directed by Jayprad Desai from a script by Kiran Yadnyopavit. The film also stars Ashish Vidyarthi, Parambrata Chatterjee and Anjali Patil in pivotal roles. The music director is Anurag Saika, while the lyrics of songs from the film are written by Shakeel Azmi.

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Tambe had spoken about being surprised after hearing that his life story would be captured on screen. In the same interview, Talpade had spoken about how Tambe’s story has been a “huge inspiration” for him and even he believes that there is no “expiry date” on dreams.

The biopic is backed by Fox Star Studios, Friday Filmworks and Bootroom Sports. It is slated to release on Disney+ Hotstar on April 1 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
