TV actress Kavita Chaudhary, renowned for her depiction of an IPS officer in the beloved TV series 'Udaan' from 1989 and her portrayal as Lalita-ji in the iconic Surf advertisements of the '90s, has tragically passed away following a cardiac arrest at Parvati Devi Hospital in Amritsar on Thursday. Celebrities worldwide are expressing their condolences over her loss. Here are seven inspiring facts about her life that undoubtedly resonate with the youth.

1. Television debut

Kavita embarked on her television journey approximately 43 years ago, making her debut with a minor role in the popular TV series 'Apradhi Kaun!'. The show, featuring prominent actors such as Nana Patekar and Raza Murad, revolved around a detective and his adept team of investigators, proficiently unraveling various crimes through their intellect and expertise.

2. Rise to fame

Kavita gained widespread acclaim for her portrayal of IPS officer Kalyani Singh in the Doordarshan series "Udaan." "Udaan," meaning "Flight," was an Indian television series that aired from 1989 to 1991. Notably, Kavita not only starred as the main lead but also wrote and directed the series herself.

The show depicted the journey of a woman's aspiration to become an IPS officer. Inspired by the real-life story of IPS officer Kanchan Choudhary Bhattacharya, who later became the Director General of Police, the serial resonated with audiences. Interestingly, Kavita Chaudhary is the younger sister of Kanchan Choudhary in real life.

3. Your Honour added a feather to her hat

Your Honour was an Indian television series that aired on DD National in 2000. Created by Kavita Chaudhary, the show revolved around the lives of aspiring lawyers Kaushalya (portrayed by Kavita Chaudhary) and Vikas (played by Aliraza Namdar), along with police inspector Sooraj (portrayed by Sachin Khedekar).

Kavita soon became a big name in the television industry. Adding charm to her career graph, she also featured in IPS Diaries - a crime-based show that has been airing on Doordarshan since October 2015. Hosted by actress Kavita Chaudhary, who portrays a retired cop in the series, it showcases true crime stories for the audience's viewing.

Kavita also gained significant recognition as the renowned face of HUL's Surf detergent commercials in India, where she portrayed the character of the diligent housewife Lalita ji in the late 1980s advertisements.

"Kavita passed away following cardiac arrest last night around 8.30 pm in Amritsar at the hospital. She was admitted to the hospital a few days ago due to low blood pressure. Her condition became critical later," Ajay Sayal, Chaudhary's nephew, told PTI. Reports also believe that Kavita was also battling cancer during her last days.

7. Did Kavita desire to work with lyricist Javed Akhtar?

In an interview with Mid-Day in the year 2000, Kavita expressed that she had the opportunity to work on several ad films and documentaries, and additionally contributed to the writing of a couple of feature film scripts. “One of the scripts was co-written with Javed Akhtar, although it remained unfinished due to his busy schedule as a prolific lyricist,” she had said.
