Keerthy Suresh: I didn't undergo any preparation to play the rugged role in Saani Kaayidham

The news of Selvaraghavan making his acting debut left many movie lovers stunned. They were surprised again when Keerthy Suresh, too, joined him to play the lead role in Arun Matheswaran's Saani Kaayidham. The first look of the project piqued the curiousity of everyone as it had Keerthy sporting a never-before-seen look.

The National Award winning actress plays Ponni, a police constable in the movie which is said to have a story set in the 80s. For the first time in her career, she will be seen essaying a revenge-seeking, de-glam role, and the promo videos of the movie have escalated the expectations surrounding her character.  

In a release issued by the team, Keerthy spoke in brief about the preparations she underwent to play the role and the experience she had. She said, "When compared to the characters that I had essayed earlier, Ponni is completely new and rugged in every sense. The character required me to appear lean and mean."

She added, "But I didn’t do much in terms of preparations. Luckily, I could get into the character's shoes as soon as I was headed to the location putting on make-up and clothes." 

According to Keerthy, she had never imagined herself portraying such a bold character in an intense movie. Though she confesses that the role seemed to be quite challenging initially, it became quite easy for her eventually. She thanks the friendly atmosphere on set and unlimited freedom for experimenting and improvising for the same.

Bankrolled by Screen Scene Media Entertainment, Saani Kaayidham will drop on Amazon Prime Video on May 6. The movie will be released under the title Chinni in Telugu while the original title has been retained for the Malayalam version. Sam CS has composed music for the revenge drama.
