The 2021 Hindi film, which tells the tale of a young Indian woman who decides to become a surrogate mother for a foreign couple, is a remake of the Marathi drama Mala Aai Vhhaychy!
The year 2021 certainly has Keerthy Suresh on her toes. In addition to a string of movies she is currently a part of, there have been reports that she is also in talks to star in the trilingual remake of the hit Bollywood film Mimi.
According to reports by Sify.com, a major production house had bagged the rights for remaking the film in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, and the South Indian star has been approached to play the titular character in them, owing to her previous work that spans across the languages. An official announcement regarding the remakes is also expected to drop soon.
Mimi tells the story of a young woman from Rajasthan who says yes to the opportunity to become a surrogate mother for a childless American couple, for the monetary compensation so as to fund her dreams of becoming an actress. The Kriti Sanon starrer itself is a Bollywood remake of the Marathi film titled Mala Aai Vhhaychy! The film had also been remade in Telugu previously, under the name of Welcome Obama. Urmila Kanitkar had starred as the lead in both Marathi and Telugu versions of the same.
With acting already in her blood as the daughter of veteran actress Menaka and film producer G. Suresh Kumar, it comes as no surprise that Keerthy Suresh has managed to make a name for herself with her talent in the industry. She is set to appear in a range of high profile films opposite seasoned stars in the coming months including Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, Good Luck Sakhi and Annaatthe where she will share the screen with Mohanlal, Aadhi Pinisetty and Rajinikanth respectively.
