Keerthy Suresh is all set to make her comeback in Malayalam through a leading role in her upcoming movie Vaashi, which will be produced by her father G Sureshkumar and directed by actor Vishnu Raghav.

It’s been seven years since Keerthy, who made her debut in the Malayalam film industry through Geethaanjali, played the female protagonist in a Malayalam film. Though she is also part of Priyadarshan and Mohanlal’s Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, the movie is yet to release in theatres despite the actress shooting her portions almost two years ago.

Vaashi, which has Tovino Thomas as the male lead, is a special project for all those involved. Keerthy, while announcing the film earlier this year, said the movie took almost seven years to fall in place and it’s a “project closer to my heart than you’d think”.

Both Vishnu and Tovino, who had first planned to work together in a short film in 2013, will also be collaborating for the first time in the movie that Vishnu had narrated to the actor almost eight years ago.

Keerthu’s upcoming releases include the big budget Rajinikanth-starrer Annaatthe, which has her playing the female lead and Mahesh Babu’s Sarkaru Vaari Paata, which is scheduled for a January 2022 release.

Tovino, meanwhile, is currently shooting for Khalid Rahman’s Thallumala, which has Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead. The movie, scripted by Muhsin Perari and Ashraf Hamza, is said to revolve around a lead character’s life from his college years to his 30s.

The actor is also part of Vineeth Kumar’s yet-to-be-titled mystery-drama revolving around friendships. He has two days of shoot left in the film that will be completed this week.
