KGF 2 release in Tamil Nadu; here's the expected number of screens and day one BO numbers

The much-awaited KGF: Chapter 2 aka KGF 2 is releasing worldwide on April 14. The action flick starring Yash is expected to take a bumper opening across the country. Trade pundits of every film industry in India are eagerly waiting for the day one numbers the movie is going to make at the box office.

The only territory in the country where the film faces a challenge is Tamil Nadu, thanks to the huge release of Vijay-starrer Beast which hit the screens today. Though the Prashanth Neel directorial has a huge fan base in the state, Beast holds the most number of theatres.  

However, the mixed response to the Vijay-starrer will be an advantage to KGF 2 if it opens with highly positive reviews. Many theatres in Tamil Nadu, especially those in Chennai, Coimbatore and Trichy are screening the pan Indian movie from as early as 4 am in the morning. 

The film carries unprecedented craze among movie buffs in the state and reminds of the hype for big ticket projects starring Rajinikanth, Ajith and Vijay. Ajith's Valimai and Vijay's Beast have recorded the highest day one numbers in the state this year. Suriya's Etharkkum Thunindhavan and Rajamouli's RRR managed to settle at fourth and third position respectively in 2022.

Going by the number of reservation tickets, it is likely that KGF 2 might surpass Etharkkum Thunindhavan and RRR on day one in Tamil Nadu. Movie lovers are also looking forward to seeing if the movie will get more screens, given the mixed talk for Beast.

For now, the film is said to be releasing in around 400 theatres and the day one collection is expected to cross 10 crores. This is more than the collection the first part of the franchise earned altogether in the state when released in 2018.
