A number of Telugu films are making into theatres once again much to the delight of fans. Among them, Khaleja is the latest one to hit the big screen again after 14 years of its theatrical release on May 30.
The action drama, which stars Mahesh Babu in the lead role, can be streamed on Sun NXT. You can also watch the film on OTTplay Premium. Trivikram Srinivas has directed as well as written the screenplay for Khaleja, which also stars Anushka Shetty and Prakash Raj in pivotal roles. Brahmanandam, Sayaji Shinde, Ali and Sunil are among the supporting cast. The film received positive reviews from the actor's fans and went on to become a cult favourite, despite not being a big hit when it first came out. Mani Sharma has composed music and background score for Khaleja.
The movie is centred on a village named Pali in Andhra Pradesh which is plagued by an unnatural disease that kills innocent and impoverished peasants, and the only way to survive it is to have magical powers. Raju, a cab driver, discovers the cause of the illness, which is scientific in nature rather than supernatural. The drinking water is contaminated by toxic industry chemicals that leak into it, killing the folks who drank it. The main plot point of the movie is how Raju would end up saving the villagers.
Mahesh Babu's other hits such as Spyder, 1-Nenokkadine and The Businessman are also streaming on the same platform.
According to reports, Mahesh Babu's another film, Brahmotsavam, will also be re-releasing on the same date. Srikanth Addala has directed this family drama, which also stars Samantha, Kajal Aggarwal, Pranitha and Prakash Raj. Prabhas-starrer Varsham will hit the big screen again on May 23. This romantic drama features Trisha Krishnan as female lead. Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi's all-time hit, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, released early this month.
