A few days ago, Kannada filmmaker R Chandru announced not one or two, but five new films, to be produced under his new banner, RC Studios. The line-up included Kabzaa 2, which Chandru has been saying he will make at some point, while audiences do not want it, given how miserably the original fared.
Kiccha Sudeep, who played a cop called Bhargav Bakshi in Kabza, a role that is likely to get extended in the sequel, if and when it gets done, took to X (Twitter) a while ago to congratulate Chandru on the launch of RC Studios and the five films.
Fans wasted no time in responding to Sudeep telling him that it was okay to wish Chandru all the best (Sudeep had even recorded a congratulatory video message that was played at the launch event), but that the actor should not, by any means, collaborate with the filmmaker again. Comments ranged from, “Yestadru wish madkoli aadre collaboration beda aste”, to “Cancel BRB and start POK”, “POK movie na Max kinta modlu release madi please”, “No problem in tweeting 100 times anna,we just don't want you to feature in any of the films above”, among others.
On Sudeep’s birthday last year, Chandru had announced a new collaboration with the actor, which he said would not be a pan-India project, but a global film. When the RC Studios announcement came, Chandru had said that he would direct 2 of the five movies – POK and Kabzaa 2 – which led to speculation that the former is the global film that the filmmaker had spoken about.
After the release of Kabzaa last year, Sudeep’s fans had urged him not to be a part of Kabzaa 2, and were then taken aback when Chandru announced a new film with he actor. Sudeep, though, had not shared news of this collaboration with Chandru, which gave fans hope that it would remain an announcement and nothing more.
