The 29th Kolkata International Film Festival will start on December 5 this year. The week-long festival will pay tribute to the centenary birth year of legendary filmmaker Mrinal Sen and actor Dev Anand. The website of the Kolkata International Film Festival states the same.
According to various reports, stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, and Shah Rukh Khan grace the opening ceremony stage every year. According to Nabanna, this tradition will continue this year as well.
Amitabh and Jaya are also in this year’s chief guests list. Mamata recently went to Mumbai and met the Bachchans there. Her photo with the family was seen at the door of Jalsa. Mamata invited Big B to the festival. She also met Anil Kapoor and invited him to be present at the festival. Anil gladly accepted the invitation.
Shah Rukh Khan, like the previous years, will be present. An official invitation from the CM went to King Khan, though he did not agree to it yet. Shah Rrukh’s new film Jawan was released on September 7 and the hero is busy with the film's promotion. The film got a positive response on its first day. Many people in the industry think that he will respond once this busy period is over. Meanwhile, speculations are rife that Salman Khan may also attend the inauguration of the festival.
Amitabh, Jaya, Rani Mukerji, and Arijit Singh were present at the opening ceremony of KIFF 2022. Satrughna Sinha, Kumar Shanu, Mahesh Bhatt, and Sourav Ganguly were also present. Shah Rukh Khan joined a bit late.
Last year, the Kolkata International Film Festival took place between December 15 and December 22. A total of 183 films from 42 countries, including 52 short films and documentaries, were screened.
