The 29th Kolkata International Film Festival will start in less than 15 days. It was heard before that Salman Khan accepted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s invitation and would be present at the gala opening ceremony of KIFF. Now it is heard that Dabangg girl Sonakshi Sinha will accompany Bhaijaan. Two more Bollywood superstars’ names are also being heard.

KIFF is starting on December 5. According to media reports, Amitabh Bachchan will not come this time. He graced the KIFF inauguration stage for several years. Last year, his powerful speech on the opening day stirred the nation. However, this time he is not well and the possibility of his coming is slim. On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan will also most likely not come according to reports. However, none of the superstars or the KIFF committee officially said anything.

Sources say that the invitation went to Kamal Haasan. Kamal Haasan has a long connection with Bengali cinema. His performance in the film Kabita is still remembered by many people. Anil Kapoor was also invited, as is being heard. If Anil Kapoor and Kamal Haasan come, then four megastars will grace the stage this time. Australia is the focus country with other foreign delegates on their way to Kolkata this time. The festival will honour Mrinal Sen and Dev Anand as this is their birth centenary year. A number of their films are lined up to be screened at the festival.
