KIFF: Actress Swastika Mukherjee congratulates new directors

The 29th Kolkata International Film Festival is just around the corner. The selected films of its Bengali Panorama Section came out on Wednesday. Mon Patanga, Bonobibi, Bijayar Pore, Abar Asibo Fire, Matripokkho, and Anath are the films to be shown. Two of Swastika Mukherjee's films, Matripokkho and Bijayar Pore, are on the list.

On Thursday, the actress took to her social media and congratulated the newcomer directors. She pointed out that she loves to give the newcomers a chance. “This year Kolkata International Film Festival has 7 Bengali films, all directed by first-time/new directors. Over the years people have asked me why I always choose to work with newcomers. Yes, there are a lot of constraints and, a lot more hard work and then there are results as amazing as this! Out of 7 films TWO are mine, directed by first-time directors. @abhijitsridasofficial and Rajesh Roy. This is why newcomers deserve a chance. #BijoyarPore and #Matripokhho selected at @kiff__official Keep an eye on the @kiff__official website and watch these films before they get released in theatres.”

Swastika is known to encourage new directors. She worked with Arjunn Dutta in a time when he was one-film-old. Earlier, in an interview, Swastika said, “I work with new teams and creative people. If the work is good, I am cool. I love new directors. All I look for is their understanding of the work. They must know what they are doing. I don’t mind compromising on my comfort for good work. But if the team is not professional then I am off.”
