Kingdom: Makers bet ₹130 Crore on Vijay Deverakonda despite back-to-back flops

Kingdom is one of the most awaited Telugu films in recent times and is all set to hit the screens on July 31, 2025. Vijay Deverakonda plays the main lead, and he needs to score a hit at any cost to revive his film career. Gautam Tinnanuri of Jersey fame has directed Kingdom, which will be released in two parts. The first part is ready and has been made on a massive scale.

Though Vijay Deverakonda’s market has shrunk big time with back-to-back flops, the producers did not shy away from investing heavily in this film. Sitara Entertainments has bankrolled the film, and producer Naga Vamsi says that he spent close to ₹130 crore on making Kingdom. 

Netflix has grabbed the digital rights for the film for a fancy price, and a chunk of the film’s budget has been recovered through these rights. Already, Kingdom has received an ‘A’ certificate and has a runtime of 2 hours and 43 minutes. 

Bhagyashree Borse plays the female lead in this film, and this is the first time she has been paired opposite Vijay Deverakonda. Popular hero Satya Dev also plays a key role in this film, appearing as Vijay Deverakonda’s brother. On the other hand, Vijay will be seen as a police constable who goes on a mission to Sri Lanka to bring back his brother.

There is also news that the film has a reincarnation storyline, and we at OTTplay can confirm the same. Kingdom was already postponed twice and has been in the making for over two years. Now, it has to click to bring Vijay Deverakonda back into the game.

Anirudh composes BGM for Kingdom

Gautham Tinnanuri is known for his emotional storytelling in films like Jersey, but this is the first time he’s making an action drama. Kingdom has been extensively shot in Sri Lanka and features great music by Anirudh. So far, three songs from the film have been released, and all of them have become chartbusters.

Vijay Deverakonda will be seen in multiple looks in this film, but his bald look has gone viral across the globe. Vijay is a terrific actor, and all he needs is a solid script to make a comeback.
