Jon Snow will soon make a comeback to the Seven Kingdoms yet again it seems. It was announced that a spinoff series to Game of Thrones is currently in the works at HBO, which will feature Kit Harington reprise his role as Jon Snow.
According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming series is set after the events of the final season of Game of Thrones. Although the HBO series was still in the early stages of development, Harington was attached to return as Jon Snow.
The eight and final season of Game of Thrones saw Jon Snow learn the truth about his Targaryen roots. After taking a difficult decision to kill Daenerys for the greater good, Jon decides to don the black once again and heads off to The Wall. The fantasy series, created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, is based on the fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire, written by George R. R. Martin.
For his performance as Jon, Harington had received numerous accolades including nominations for Golden Globes and Primetime Emmy Awards. All seasons of Game of Thrones can be streamed on Disney+Hotstar.
If confirmed, the sequel will not be the first spin-off that the popular fantasy series has spawned. A prequel series titled House of the Dragon, set almost 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, is scheduled for release on August 21. The show will explore the origins of the The Targaryen civil war and stars Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy and Matt Smith in pivotal roles.
