The latest edition of Koffee With Karan started with a bang, as Bollywood couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone graced the coveted ‘Koffee couch’ as guests in the first episode of Season 8. However, after the entertaining episode, the couple had to face the brunt of trolls due to the revelations they made about their dating life on the show.
Deepika candidly disclosed that there wasn’t a “real commitment” between them, and they were, in fact, “technically allowed” to see other people. This statement infuriated a section of people who questioned the morality of their relationship.
According to a News18 report, Karan recently addressed these trolls during an Instagram Live session. He said, “Do what you need to do because no one’s looking. Trolling gets you nowhere. You are landing nowhere.”
In the Koffee With Karan episode, Deepika said “I wanted to be single for a while, because I had come from difficult relationships. I was going through a phase where I said, ‘I just don’t want to be attached, don’t want to be committed’. And I had fun. And then, he comes along, so I didn’t commit commit, until he proposed to me. There was no commitment as such. Even if we were technically allowed to see other people, we would just keep coming back to each other.”
In support of Deepika’s revelations, actor-comedian Vir Das took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “Moment of silence for all men upset that a Bollywood star way out of their league was actually dating for a while as wasn’t as committed as their imaginary girlfriend is to them.”
The first episode of Season 8 also featured never-seen-before footage of Ranveer and Deepika’s wedding that took place among friends and family in Italy.
