Kolai, which marked Vijay Antony's third outing this year, hit the screens a month ago and opened to poor reviews from critics and cinephiles. The film was helmed by Balaji Kumar who made a stunning debut with Vidiyum Munn.
Ritika Singh, Meenakshi Chaudhary and Murali Sharma among others play pivotal characters in Kolai which was dropped on Amazon Prime a few days ago. The film's principal cast took to their social media pages to share excitement on the movie's digital premiere. The makers have now announced that it has been trending at number one position in India on Amazon Prime in the last week.
Kolai revolves around the sensational murder of a popular singer-model which sends her fans shocked. A police officer is assigned the duty to solve the case, but she seeks support from her senior. Both of them set out to investigate the case based on the little evidence they have.
Sivakumar Vijayan's cinematography is the highlight of the film which has decent music by Girishh Gopalakrishnan. Selva RK has handled editing while K Aarusamy has helmed art direction for the movie.
Mahesh Mathew has composed action choreography for Kolai which has been bankrolled by Infiniti Film Ventures and Lotus Pictures. Suresh, Milton Obadiah and Chiraag Ranka were in charge of dance choreography.

Vijay Antony sported a salt-and-pepper look for the first time in the film, and its promo videos and posters were intriguing, which led to the movie carrying good expectations among cinephiles. The actor-director-musician, who had Tamilarasan and Pichaikkaran 2 this year, will next be seen in Ratham.
