The Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of Vijay Antony's Kolai have been bagged by Sakthi Film Factory. The distribution house made the announcement on its social media handle and wrote, "Happy to acquire Tamil Nadu Theatrical Rights of @vijayantony 's most awaited #Kolai by @sakthifilmfctry Film Releasing on 21st July (sic)."

The crime thriller is helmed by Balaji K Kumar and features Vijay Antony, Ritika Singh, Meenakshi Chaudhry, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Murali Sharma and Siddhartha Kumar, to name a few.


Going by the trailer, the plot revolves around the mysterious death of popular model Leila, and how the detective roped in to solve the case, solves the sensational murder. Vijay Antony plays the detective, who strongly believes that there is no such thing called a perfect murder. The role is right up Vijay Antony's sleeve.

Taking to his social media handle, producer Dhananjayan G wrote, "#Kolai final copy watched & locked last night. My best critic at home @lalithagd after watching said - “An engaging & intelligent crime thriller with awesome BGM & stylish making.” Film is going out for censor today. Releasing on 21st July. Waiting for your verdict that day (sic)."

Music for the film is by Girishh Gopalakrishnan, cinematography by Sivakumar Vijayan and editing by Selva RK. Mahesh Mathew has choreographed the action sequences, while the dance choreography is jointly by Suresh, Milton Obadiah and Chiraag Ranka. The project is bankrolled by Infiniti Film Ventures and Lotus Pictures.

Vijay Antony has a slew of films lined up for release, including Agni Siragugal, Khaki, Ratham and Mazhai Pidikatha Manithan to name a few. His last releases were Tamilarasan and Pichaikkaran 2, both of which failed to set the cash registers ringing. Since Kolai's plot has already piqued the curiosity of the audience, it looks like all eyes are on this crime thriller.
