Seasoned filmmaker KS Ravikumar has stirred controversy following his remarks about Telugu superstar Balakrishna during a recent promotional event in Chennai for the upcoming film Guardian . The director, known for his work with Balakrishna in films like Jai Simha and Ruler, shared anecdotes that have since sparked criticism for being disrespectful.
During the media interaction, Ravikumar commented, "I recently did a film with Balakrishna. He will lose his cool if anybody smirks at him." The filmmaker went on to mimic Balakrishna's mannerisms, particularly focusing on instances where the actor expressed anger towards those he believed were laughing at him.
"He (Balakrishna) would keep pulling up someone for laughing at him," Ravikumar recalled, shedding light on the actor's sensitivity to perceived mockery.
He further recounted an incident involving one of his assistants, who faced scrutiny when adjusting a fan. "He (Balakrishna) asked Saravanan to turn the fan towards him. When my assistant turned the fan, the air slightly disturbed his wig, and he laughed at it," Ravikumar explained.
"I was worried that he might beat up Saravanan. I requested him to forgive him, saying he was my assistant. But, he said that he was from an 'opposite gang.' He is always a bit suspicious of everyone," he claimed.

In the meantime, some expressed suprised to learn about Balakrishna's little-known-side on the shooting spots.
Ravikumar first worked with Balakrishna for the 2018 action movie Jai Simha. Later, the duo collaborated again on the cop drama in 2019 named Ruler. Both movies were considered commercial and critical failures.
Currently, Ravikumar is not directing any films. He's more focused on pursuing acting roles. He was recently seen in Annapoorani and Lal Salaam. Additionally, he has also played a key role in Suriya's upcoming movie Kanguva.
