Kuberaa is one of the most-awaited films in recent times and is special for multiple reasons. The film is directed by Sekhar Kammula, who is known for making soft romantic dramas to date. For the first time, he is ready with a new-age social drama featuring Dhanush and Akkineni Nagarjuna as the main leads. The film is all set to release on June 20, 2025, on a massive number of screens.
Sekhar Kammula is known to make lengthy films and has done the same here. When the film went to the censors, it was over three and a half hours long. The censors passed the film with 19 cuts and gave it a U/A certificate. But not many know that Kuberaa will have different runtimes in Tamil and Telugu. While the Telugu runtime has been locked at 3 hours and 1 minute, the Tamil version is locked at 3 hours and 15 minutes.
When the same was asked to director Sekhar Kammula, he said that it is the collective decision of the team and the makers of the film that the runtime needed to be trimmed in Telugu, as it does not go well with the sensibilities of the Telugu audience. There will be a clear difference of 15 minutes between the Tamil and Telugu versions, and this is the first time that something like this has happened in recent times.
The Telugu audience does not prefer lengthy movies, though they loved Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal. But every film will not be received with such open hands, says the producer Sunil Narang, and that's why there is a difference in the runtime.
Rashmika Mandanna plays the female lead in this film, which has music by DSP. Dhanush will be seen in the role of a beggar, and Jim Sarbh will be seen as the world's richest man. Nagarjuna plays an investigating officer in the film, which will be out on Amazon Prime Video after its theatrical release.
