Kuberaa is Dhanush's new film that has impressed one and all. The social drama started with solid word of mouth, and strong reviews helped the film get off to a great start at the box office. Having passed the Monday test with ₹8 crore net, Kuberaa also did well on day five of its release, earning ₹6 crore.
These numbers are combined from all the languages in which the film was released. The special aspect is that Kuberaa has crossed the ₹100 crore mark in just five days. This number is huge, considering the film stars Dhanush, a Tamil star, and Nagarjuna, whose box office pull hasn’t been strong in recent years.
All of this has happened primarily because of director Sekhar Kammula, who helmed the film in a solid manner. Kuberaa is being loved by all sections of the audience and has been especially strong in the Telugu states.
But surprisingly, it is not performing as well in Tamil Nadu. The collections there are not great, which is a worrying factor since Dhanush is a big hero in the region. However, the makers are unbothered, as the film was primarily made for the Telugu audience and is doing exceptionally well there.
The film’s promotions were also handled well, which helped Kuberaa cross the coveted ₹100 crore mark. In the US too, the film has grossed over $1.7 million and is expected to cross $2 million, which is impressive.
Sekhar Kammula, known for making soft romantic films, switched gears with Kuberaa and penned a script that carries a strong social message—an aspect that’s being widely appreciated. The OTT rights have been bagged by Amazon Prime, and the film is likely to stream starting the second week of July 2025.
Sunil Narang has produced the film, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna. She has scored yet another hit and is gaining popularity across the globe. In the days to come, it will be interesting to see how much more the film earns at the box office.
