Kudumbasthan, the critically acclaimed Tamil film starring actor Manikandan in the lead role, is all set to make its OTT debut soon. ZEE5 has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film, and will premiere on March 7. Ahead of its release, let's take a look at how much the Manikandan-starrer film has made at the box office.
Actor Manikandan, who gave stellar performances in Good Night and Lover, scored a hattrick with his 2025 Tamil film Kudumbasthan. The film opened in theatres in January this year, and received positive reception from critics. Now, it is all set to make its OTT debut with ZEE5. You can watch the film on the streaming platform with the help of OTTplay Premium subscription from March 7 onwards.
As per reports, Kudumbasthan's closing box office collection is around Rs 28 crore worldwide. The film could not create ripples at the box office, despite having a fairly successful run. It is the fourth highest-grossing film in Tamil cinema this year, after Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi, Pradeep Ranganathan-starrer Dragon and Madha Gaja Raja by Vishal and Sundar C.
The film is a family drama set in Coimbatore. It follows a young man who is the sole breadwinner of his family consisting of his wife and parents. It is helmed by debutant filmmaker Rajeshwar Kalisamy. He wrote the script of the film along with the screenplay with actor Prasanna Balachandran. The latter has played a prominent part in Kudumbasthan.
The cast members of the film include Saannve Megghana, Guru Somasundaram, director R Sundarajan, Prasanna Balachandran, Kanakamma, Jenson Diwakar and others. Many who watched the film praised the cast performances, screenplay and humour in the film.
Kudumbasthan will premiere on ZEE5 on March 7 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. It is produced by S. Vinoth Kumar under Cinemakaaran. The technical crew consists of music scored by Vaisagh, with cinematography handled by Sujith N. Subramaniam. Kannan Balu is the editor.
