Kuruthi Aattam, which had a theatrical release earlier this month, opened to mixed reviews from critics and the audience. The Atharvaa-starrer received appreciation for its neatly choreographed action sequences helmed by Vicky and performances from a few artistes, but its screenplay was panned by many.

The makers announced a few days ago that the film will have its digital premiere on aha Tamil September 2. However, the OTT platform has now informed that they have preponed their plans; the movie will now drop on August 26.

Sri Ganesh, who made a notable debut with 8 Thottakal in 2017, has directed Kuruthi Aattam. The filmmaker recently took to his social media page to thank the audience and critics who pointed out positive and negative aspects in the film, and vowed that he will work on those factors which didn't satisfy people.

Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed music for the project which has cinematography and editing by Dinesh Purushothaman and Anil Krish respectively. T Muruganantham has produced the film under the banner of Rock Fort Entertainment. Its story revolves around a kabaddi player who takes revenge on a few dreaded goons after they finish off his friend.

Priya Bhavani Shankar essays the female lead in Kuruthi Aattam which has Radha Ravi, Radhika Sarathkumar, Kanna Ravi, Vinod Sagar and Vatsan Chakravarthy among others essaying key roles in it. The film which was supposed to release in 2020 got postponed owing to multiple lockdowns.

Its shooting began in 2018, a year after the makers made an announcement on the project. Kuruthi Aattam was released along with three Tamil films and a dubbed Tamil movie on August 5, and went on to emerge as the top movie on its first day of release. But the mixed response spoiled its box office prospects from the next day.
