Netflix has bagged the OTT rights to Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha's Kushi, read this news to know how much Netflix paid to grab the digital rights

Kushi featuring Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu had to click at any cost as both the stars gave flops with their last films, Liger and Shaakuntalam. The romantic drama, Kushi, which was in the making for over two years finally hit the screens on September 1, 2023, and started with a decent word of mouth as the film made Rs 70 crores gross in just three days.

But in a shocking turnaround of events, the occupancy of the film fell down like a pack of cards and Kushi started to struggle at the box office when the key Monday started in its first week. The occupancy is not even 30% as of now and Kushi has been removed from several theatres to give space to Jawan and Miss Shetty Mr. Polishetty which released on September 7, 2023.

We at OTTplay have already reported that the digital rights of the film have been bagged by Netflix for a fancy amount and the romantic drama will premiere by the end of this month or in the first week of October.
We have now come to know that Netflix has paid a whopping Rs 30 crores to bag the OTT rights of the film. This is the highest amount ever for a Vijay Deverakonda film to date in Telugu. When compared to Vijay Deverakonda's Liger, Kushi has done a lot better business.
At this stage, the distributors will lose some money but the producers, Mythri Movie Makers have earned close to Rs 90 crores from just the non theatrical rights of the film. Shiva Nirvana has directed this film which is about a couple who belong to different religious beliefs. Hesham Abdul Wahab has given a sensational music score which was one of the film's solid opening.
