With the trend of re-releasing old films catching up, the latest film to get onto the bandwagon is the 2011 political action-drama Ko, directed by the late filmmaker KV Anand.

The film, starring actor Jiiva in the lead role, is set to hit theatres after 13 years since its first release. Ko will hit big screens on March 1, with the RS Infotainment banner releasing the film. The announcement was made on Tuesday by the banner that produced the film as well in 2011.

Ko gets a re-release

Ko starred actors Jiiva, Ajmal, Ameer, Karthika Nair, and Piaa Bajpai, among others, in lead roles. The film is set in a newsroom, where a photojournalist unravels several truths about the upcoming state elections. While the film marked Karthika’s debut in Tamil, Jiiva played the role of the photojournalist. Now, after 13 years since it was first released, Ko will be gracing the big screens soon.

The RS Infortainment banner, which backed the film, has decided to re-release the film. The banner wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Mega blockbuster movie #KO will hit big screens once again. Grand release on 1st March, WW release by #RSLimeLight.”

Ko is one of the few films in Tamil that focuses on the lives and struggles of reporters and photojournalists. Helmed by KV Anand, Ko is written by the director along with duo Subha. The film was met with positive reception and subsequently, a standalone sequel, titled Ko 2, was released in 2016. The film was directed by Sarath Mandava and starred Bobby Simha and Prakash Raj.
