L2 Empuraan box office collection day 2 worldwide: The Mohanlal-starrer Lucifer sequel has stormed its way into the Rs 100-crore club, the makers have claimed on social media. The Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial, which received mixed reviews when it hit theatres on Thursday, has reportedly crossed the significant mark within the second day at the ticket window. Aashirvad Cinemas, which has backed Empuraan, announced on social media that the Mohanlal-starrer has crossed Rs 100 crore in collections at the worldwide box office.
“Empuraan surpasses 100 crore at the box office worldwide in less than 48 hours, setting new benchmarks in cinematic history,” Aashirvad Cinemas wrote on social media. The L2E makers also thanked all those who were part of this ‘extraordinary success’. They shared the announcement with a fiery photo of Mohanlal as Stephen Nedumpally from Empuraan.
On the other hand, industry tracker Sacnilk reported that the film earned Rs 11.75 crore in India net collections on Friday, day 2 at the box office. Empuraan grossed Rs 21 crore on its opening day. So the total India net collections, as per Sacnilk, now stand at Rs 32.75 crore.
Ahead of its release, Empuraan saw unprecedented promotions, including multi-city tours, which are not a common practice in Malayalam cinema. Upon its release on March 27, the film drew criticism for its plot, while the top-notch making and stunning visuals received a thumbs up.
The highly anticipated L2 Empuraan, which is the second installment in the three-part Lucifer franchise, comes six years after first installment in 2019 that was a blockbuster hit.
The formidable duo of Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran lead this ambitious movie, which has an impressive star cast, including Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Suraj Venjaramoodu. Abhimanyu Singh, Eriq Ebouaney, Andrea Tivadar, and Jerome Flynn are also part of the cast.
