The Lal Salaam director recently filed a complaint at the Teynampet police station in Chennai stating that gold and diamond jewellery worth lakhs have been stolen from the house. Her complaint states that the missing jewellery includes antique gold pieces, temple jewellery, diamond sets to name a few. The filmmaker had stated that she had kept the jewellery in her locker after using them for her sister Soundarya's wedding. The locker was shifted multiple times thereafter. She has named three of her staff as suspects. The Teynampet police have registered a case under section 381 (theft by a domestic help) of the IPC.

On the film front, the filmmaker has been shooting for her upcoming film Lal Salaam. She recently posted a BTS picture from the sets on her social media handle and wrote, "Happens to be a Friday ..early start and shooting in an age-old Amman temple …can call it a coincidence or sometimes I believe god has her own sweet small ways of communicating with her child (sic)."

The film has Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead. The actors play cricketers in the film and Vishnu Vishal had expressed his happiness over playing one after a long time. Interestingly, both Vishnu and Vikranth are cricket players and are regular members of the Celebrity Cricket League. It is said that Superstar Rajinikanth will be doing a cameo in the film. Music is by Isai Puyal AR Rahman. Lal Salaam is being bankrolled by Lyca Productions and the film is likely to release in the second half of the year.

Rajinikanth, in the meantime, is currently shooting for his much-awaited project Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
