Kannada actress Rachita Ram, who was last seen onscreen in Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie, is set to begin 2026 with not one, but two simultaneous releases. The actress’ Landlord and Cult will both be in theatres on January 23 and see her in vastly different roles. She is paired with Duniya Vijay in Landlord, while Zaid Khan is the leading man of Cult. Rachita has begun promotions for both films and during one of her recent interviews, her rumoured Rs 1 cr+ remuneration was a talking point.
While she did not confirm or deny that she does pocket such an amount per film, Rachita wondered what was wrong in commanding a deserving fee based on what she brings to the table. “Why shouldn’t I charge such fees? More than the figure of Rs 1 cr, I think I deserve what I charge. I have been doing films for several years and don’t pressurise the producers about payments. It’s not a fixed fee; I am negotiable and everything depends on the role and the date requirements,” she told Guarantee News.
The actress added that to date, none of the producers she has worked with have complained about her remuneration and have been more than happy to pay her. Rachita also took the opportunity to clarify that contrary to rumours that she’s been ousted from her new film Criminal, in which she is paired with Dhruva Sarja, she is still very much a part of it. In fact, the actress is currently in the process of shedding the weight she had gained for her character in Landlord, which, she says, Dhruva has been helping her with.
2026, she says, is a year in which she will likely have 4 releases, what with Ayogya 2, the sequel to her hit film with Sathish Ninasam nearing completion, and Criminal also expected to be wrapped up.
