Rachita Ram: I took up Landlord because of Darshan sir and Lokesh Kanagaraj

On October 3, on the occasion of Rachita Ram’s birthday, the team of her upcoming film Landlord revealed a first-look teaser, which features the actress in a raw and rustic avatar. The film’s written and directed by Jadeshaa K Hampi, who’s last was Challenging Star Darshan’s Kaatera. This time around, he’s got Duniya Vijay in the lead, while Raj B Shetty is the antagonist. When the film was officially announced and the first poster came out, it had sparked comments that the filmmaker was making yet another Kaatera.

The advice that Darshan and Lokesh gave Rachita

Rachita felt the same vibe when she was approached for the film, so she discussed it with Darshan. “After I got the narration, I told Darshan sir that the character felt a lot like his role in Kaatera and he said that I should take it up as it is challenging and complex. Similarly, I had a random discussion with Lokesh Kanagaraj (Coolie director) and he’d asked me about the other projects I was working on, so I showed him the script. Lokesh said that if I want to show my versatility as an actor, Landlord was a film that I should definitely do. I am thankful to both of them for insisting that I do the film; I took up Landlord because of them,” she said at a special press briefing during her birthday celebration.

The actress celebrated her big day with fans this time around and one of the questions she was repeatedly asked was about her wedding plans. The actress had recently got her nose pierced, a tradition often followed to symbolize marriage and fertility. Turns out, Rachita is keen to get married soon, and an announcement maybe imminent. At the moment, nothing’s been finalized, she says, adding that she has left it to her parents to find a suitable match for her.

In Landlord, Rachita is paired with Duniya Vijay and plays mother to a grown up daughter, played by Vijay's daughter. On the occasion of her birthday, a first look poster of Rachita’s look from her upcoming film Cult, which features her in a more modern avatar, was also released.
