Latest Kannada OTT releases (July 21 – July 27) - Here is the list of what you can stream on various digital platforms or watch in theatres this week.

The Kannada film industry is currently rejoicing that not 1 but 2 films have been drawing footfalls, namely Ekka and Junior. The question, though, is if the films lined up in the rest of the year can sustain this momentum. Last year, after Bheema ended the drought, within days, Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi, what will follow Ekka, though? Will it be the horror comedy from Raj B Shetty’s team, Su from So, which hits theatres this week? Or is there a longer wait in store?

Director D Satya Prakash made his acting debut with his latest directorial, X&Y, which released in theatres on June 26. The film, which also stars Atharva Prakash, Sunder Veena, Brinda Acharya, among others, is about the soul of an unborn child inhabiting a dead vagrant’s body for a few days, in the hope of uniting its parents.

The Malayalam original police procedural, written and directed by Shahi Kabir and starring Dileesh Pothan and Roshan Mathew, follows a seasoned cop and a rookie and the instances that occur during their night patrolling. Released in theatres on June 13, the film had opened to largely positive reviews, even though, its abrupt ending did not work for many audiences. The film has now dropped on OTT and is available with Kannada audio.

Raj B Shetty fills in as producer for actor-filmmaker JP Thuminad’s Kannada film directorial debut, Su from So, a horror comedy set in the coastal town. The film is about an entire village being crippled by fear after the appearance of the mysterious Sulochana from Someshwar. JP plays the lead, along with Shaneel Gautham, Mime Ramadas, Deepak Rai Panaje, Prakash Tuminad, Sandhya Arekere, among others.

Writer-director Mahesh Ravikumar’s film is an investigation thriller following a series of mysterious murders in a remote island. With the bodies being dumped in water making it difficult for the investigation team to gather evidence, one determined officer uncovers chilling secrets. Starring Balaji Manohar, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Shwetha Prasad, Harish Rai, among others.

Telugu actor-politician Pawan Kalyan’s big-ticket period film has him in the role of a fictional rebel called Veera Mallu who fights against an oppressive Mughal regime. The film, which was significantly delayed in production is now set for theatrical release. Also on the cast are Bobby Deol, Sathyaraj, Niddhi Agerwal, Aditya Menon, among others. The film will release with a Kannada version as well.
