Vaa Vaathiyaar – Prime Video, also available on OTTplay Premium with top-up (January 28)
Vaa Vaathiyaar, starring Karthi in the lead role, is a comedy actioner drama directed by Nalan Kumarasamy. The film revolves around a corrupt cop who is believed to be MGR’s reincarnation by his grandfather. However, circumstances push the cop to impersonate MGR himself at crucial situations, making Vaa Vaathiyaar a superhero film with a cinematic twist. Actors Krithi Shetty, Sathyaraj, Rajkiran and others play prominent roles.
Gandhi Talks – Theatres (January 30)
Gandhi Talks is an upcoming film which is directed by Marathi filmmaker Kishore Belekar. It is designed as a silent film with actors Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swamy, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Siddharth Jadhav playing important roles. Gandhi Talks has music by AR Rahman.
Sarvam Maya – JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium (January 30)
Sarvam Maya is a Malayalam film which will also stream in Tamil. The supernatural comedy features Nivin Pauly and Riya Shibu in lead roles, with actors Aju Varghese, Janardhanan, and Preity Mukhundhan also in cast. Written and directed by Akhil Sathyan, Sarvam Maya is about an agnostic and upcoming musician and his adventures of life after encountering a ghost.
Champion – Netflix (January 29)
Champion is 2025 Telugu film which will stream in Tamil as well. The sports action drama helmed by Pradeep Advaitham, stars Roshan Meka and Anaswara Rajan in the leading roles. Set against the backdrop of 1947 in India, Champion is about a football player who is playing against the British team. Actors Santhosh Pratap, Prakash Raj, Kay Kay Menon and others are also part of the cast.
Lockdown – Theatres (January 30)
Lockdown is an upcoming Tamil film which is headlined by actor Anupama Parameswaran. The film revolves around a young woman who is stuck during the Covid-19 lockdown, entailing the psychological and emotional problems she faces. The cast includes Charlie, Nirosha, Priya Venkat, Livingston, Indhumathi, Rajkumar, Shamji, Lollu Sabha Maran, Vinayak Raj, Vidhu, Abhirami, Ravathi, Sanjivie, Priya Ganesh, Asha and others. The film is directed by AR Jeeva.
