Vishal's Laththi, directed by A Vinoth Kumar, was supposed to release in theatres in August. But the team postponed its release owing to its delay in shooting as the actor got injured multiple times while filming action sequences. The video of him getting injured went viral a few months ago.

Peter Hein is choreographing action sequences for the project which is expected to be high on intense stunt episodes. The movie has Vishal playing a police constable. Its story revolves around his character setting out to save his son from the clutches of a few criminals.

The makers, who organized a press meet in Hyderabad recently, have now announced a new release date. The movie will hit the screens for Christmas in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. Laththi is the actor's second outing in 2022 after Veeramae Vaagai Soodum (streaming on Zee5).

Actors Ramana and Nandha have bankrolled the project under Rana Productions which has Sunainaa playing the female lead. The actress is sharing screen presence with Vishal for the second time. The duo was earlier seen together in Samar which was released in 2013. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed music for Laththi.

The promo videos of the movie are expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks. Though Vishal has played the role of a cop and investigative officer earlier, this is the first time he has essayed a police constable. The film has been titled Laatti in Telugu and Laththi Charge in Hindi.

Going by the makers' plans, this is the first time a film of Vishal will be released in multiple languages simultaneously. Though the team has announced "Christmas release", it isn't sure if they are planning to release the movie on December 25, as the occasion falls on a Sunday.
