Morgan Freeman returns with his evocative voice for a new nature documentary series titled 'Life on Our Planet' which, as the title suggests, traces the alluring journey of life on planet Earth from its origins to the present time. The eight-part series uses a blend of high-grade CGI and live-action film to tell a majestic tale of evolution, survival and everything in between, laying focus on a wide range of topics.

"This is the story of the great battles of survival. And the dynasties that would take over the world. From the beginning of life to today," says Freeman in the trailer of Life on Our Planet as he makes way for a barrage of visuals revealing life forms of myriad kinds in the history of this planet. Lorne Balfe's score underlines the intensity at which the narrative is set to unfold with the sagacity of Freeman's coming in as a sharp contrast.

Another highlight of the show would be the involvement of Steven Spielberg who serves as one of its executive producers. Spielberg, 76, is renowned for his employment of technology in cinema and films like Jurassic Park, Jaws and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial have proven just how powerful his imagery can be. So, his inclusion in the project only makes things more exciting for those who love a good nature documentary, one that promises to be as comprehensive as Life on Our Planet is.

Life on Our Planet is set to premiere worldwide on Netflix on October 25, 2023, and will consist of eight different episodes. You can watch the trailer here:

What to Expect from Life on Our Planet?

With each of the eight episodes focusing on a specific topic, one could certainly expect the upcoming show to be as thorough in its description as appealing as it seems to be through its visuals. Aside from the "theory" that's part of the narrative, the trailer suggests that the series will play out with a certain dramatic intensity that will engage all its viewers. To top that, the VFX work has been carried out by George Lucas' Industrial Light & Magic, the same studio that is behind films like Jurassic World Dominion, Avatar: The Way of Water, the Star Wars films and countless other blockbusters.
