While the Malayalam film industry is off to a wonderful start in 2024 by delivering back-to-back hits in the form of Premalu, Bramayugam and Manjummel Boys, it is no secret that the Tamil film industry has also been cooking its share with some of the prestigious projects in the pipeline.

Certainly, there are some interesting films to look forward to in the form of Thangalaan, Kanguva, and Amaran, to name a few. We would like to remind you that Tamil films are also making some big-budget films with a stellar ensemble star cast. With the makers of Dhanush’s upcoming film Raayan revealing the key cast members recently, we would like to mention the upcoming multi-starrers that are on their way soon.

Thug Life

Starring Kamal Haasan in the lead role, the prestigious project is helmed by veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam. Thug Life will mark the duo’s reunion after their iconic 1987 gangster action-drama Nayakan. While shooting for the upcoming film is going at a brisk pace, Thug Life is an interesting and exciting multi-starrer. Apart from Kamal Haasan, the film also stars Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Joju George, Dulquer Salmaan, and Gautham Karthik, among others. The film is backed by Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies. Although much about the film’s plot is not revealed, Thug Life is also expected to be a gangster drama.

GOAT

GOAT- Greatest of All Time stars Vijay in the lead role. As per the posters released by the makers, it is expected that the actor will appear in dual roles. Directed by Venkat Prabhu in his first collaboration with Vijay, GOAT will feature Prashanth, Ajmal Ameer, Prabhudheva, Sneha, and Meenakshi Chaudhary, among others. Besides them, the film is also expected to feature Venkat Prabhu’s regulars like Premgi, Vaibhav, and Aravind Akash. Touted as a science fiction film, GOAT will be an important film since it will be the first to be released after Vijay announced his political entry. Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored the music.

Vettaiyan

The Rajinikanth-starrer Vettaiyan can be called the melting pot of actors across India. Directed by TJ Gnanavel and backed by Lyca Productions, Vettaiyan features a long list of talented artists. They include Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan, and Ritika Singh, among others. In Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth will play the role of the cop. It will be interesting to know how the role is portrayed since Gnanavel’s earlier film, Jai Bhim, spoke about custodial violence.

Indian 2

Indian 2 is directed by S Shankar and is the sequel to the filmmaker's 1996 vigilante action film Indian. Actor Kamal Haasan will be resuming his role as Senapathy in the sequel. The film is backed by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies. However, AR Rahman will not be returning and instead, it will be Anirudh Ravichander scoring the music for Indian 2.

Raayan, written and directed by Dhanush, will also star the actor in the lead titular role. The makers had recently announced the key cast members, including SJ Suryah, Selvaraghavan, Kalidas Jayaram, Sundeep Kishan, Prakash Raj, Dushara Vijayan, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Aparna Balamurali, and Saravanan, among others.
