Puthiya Pathai

Pudhiya Paadhai is a 1989 Tamil film written and directed by R Parthiban, marking his directorial debut. The film revolves around a ruffian who rapes a woman under the orders of her stepmother. However, after forcefully marrying her, the woman decides to reform him and make him realise the mistakes he has committed. The film stars Seetha, Parthiban, VK Ramasamy, Manorama, Nassar and others. It bagged the National Film Award for Best Tamil film and Best Supporting Actress for Manorama. Pudhiya Paadhai was remade in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam.

Mangaiyar Thilakam

Mangayar Thilagam revolves around a child who is taken care of by the mother's sister-in-law because she lost her child as an infant. However, this brews jealousy in the mother's mind as she tries to separate the child from his aunt. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Padmini, MN Rajam, Gemini Ganesan and others. The film was directed by LV Prasad and won the National Film Award for Best Film in Tamil.

Karnan

Karnan is a 1964 mythological film based on the Hindu epic Mahabharat. The film centres around Karnan, a character who serves as a loyal and trustworthy friend of Duryodhanan during the Kurukshetra War. Sivaji Ganesan plays the titular character in the film, which also features NT Rama Rao, Savitri, Devika, and others. Karnan was a commercial success and won the Certificate of Merit for the Third Best Feature Film at the 11th National Film Awards. It was directed by BR Panthulu.

Magic Magic

Magic Magic is a 2003 Tamil fantasy film directed by Jose Punnoose. The film revolves around a grandson who elopes from his father after the latter separates him from his magician grandfather. The rest of the film is about how the grandfather uses his tricks to find the child. The late singer SP Balasubramanian played the role of a magician. It also starred Pooja Kumar, Suraj Balajee and others. Magic Magic won the National Film Award for Best Special Effects.

Savale Samali

Savale Samali is a 1971 film headlined by Sivaji Ganesan in his 150th outing. It also stars Jayalalithaa, R Muthuraman, MN Nambiar and others. The film revolves around a man who is up against the landlord’s son, whom his father works for. Later, he forcibly marries the landlord's daughter. Singer P Susheela won her second National Award for the song Chitukuruvikenna, scored by MS Viswanathan.
