Lokah Chapter 1: Was Dulquer Salmaan’s Odiyan shown even before the end credit reveal?

Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra, the first of a proposed 5-film franchise by filmmaker Dominic Arun, tells a modern-day adaptation of the story of the title character Chandra, or Kalliyankatu Neeli, played by Kalyani Priyadarshan. While the film follows Chandra and the events that unfold between her and a corrupt cop called Nachiyappa Gowda, it also explores her origins and how she came to be a vampire. Dominic also introduces audiences to characters who will get their own arcs in this cinematic universe, predominantly Tovino Thomas’ Chathan and Dulquer Salmaan’s Odiyan, among others.

While Tovino’s character is introduced in the second half of Chapter 1, with an extent of the scope of his role hinted at in the post-credit scene, Dulquer, who is also the producer, makes an appearance in an end credit scene. However, according to netizens, his character’s presence was hinted at even before that scene. The theory doing the rounds on social media is that in the sequence in which Chandra is abducted by the organ trade gang, two dogs are in the background, one of which is killed by the character played by Sarath Sabha.

The Odiyan reveal 

The other, is one with a mutilated leg, to which the camera pans a couple of times in this sequence. This dog is later also seen in the basement of the Holy Grail Café before Dulquer is unveiled, which, netizens believe is clear indication that the canine is his beastly form. According to folklore, while an odiyan is a shapeshifter, it cannot fully transform and is usually a creature with malformation, as is here, the case of the dog missing a quarter of its leg.

However, some netizens dispel this theory, as the dog and Dulquer are shown in the same frame, before it ambles away, leading to the action block.
